Beneath the Ink

Many of us (note how we said "us") went through a period when we thought a tattoo on or directly adjacent to more intimate areas of the body was a great idea. And maybe they were at the time, but as time went on, we (you included) changed our preferences to a cleaner aesthetic, so to speak. Or, the execution was never quite right.

Unless you spend all your time bundled up from head to toe, gloves included, your wrists are among the most frequently exposed parts of your body. You see them, and others do, frequently as you go about your day. Of course, few people give it much thought, unless, of course, there is a tattoo on the wrist.

While ribs are known for being a painful area to get tattooed, they are popular for placement because they offer a large, flat canvas for detailed designs, can be easily concealed or displayed, and are symbolic of strength and resilience (and other personal meanings). The pain association also says something about the owner, as it can be seen as a rite of passage or testament to endurance.

The reasons for wanting breast tattoo removal may very well vary more than when compared to other parts of the body. The standard motivations apply, of course, such as not being happy with how the tattoo turned out or having chosen a design years ago that no longer suits one’s personality. Other reasons more specific to the breasts are detailed below.

The two horizontal bones that run between the top of the breastbone (sternum) and the shoulders are a very cool spot on the body for a tattoo. With the right button-up, v-neck t-shirt, or blouse, the wearer can show just enough to pique the onlooker's curiosity about what lies beneath. Or, with the right tank top or dress (or with nothing on at all), it can showcase one’s seductive or resilient personality (as it’s a painful part to get tattooed).
