About NIXX Tattoo Removal

NIXX understands tattoo removal because we come from the tattooing industry. Our team is made up of people who have been tattooed themselves and have experienced tattoo removal firsthand.

We know how it feels, physically & emotionally, and we approach every client with care, respect, and absolutely no judgment.

OUR HISTORY

A Legacy in the Tattoo Arts, Culture, and Lifestyle

Founded by the team behind Adrenaline Tattoo Studios, NIXX brings in-depth knowledge of how tattoo ink sits in the skin and how different skin types respond to treatment. For many clients, full removal isn’t the goal. Fading a tattoo for a cover-up can reduce the number of sessions, lower costs, and create space for new work you truly want. And because NIXX operates within an Adrenaline studio in Kitsilano, we can connect you directly with trusted tattoo artists when you’re ready for what’s next.

Our Vision

To redefine tattoo removal in Greater Vancouver as a skilled, intentional craft. Not just a cosmetic service.

Our Mission

To deliver advanced, personalized laser tattoo removal in Vancouver with expert care, precision dual-laser technology, and an in-depth understanding of ink and skin.

Our Goal

Whether it's a full removal, intentional fading for a cover-up, or simply closing a chapter, our goal is to help our clients make informed decisions and build a cleaner canvas with confidence.

OUR LASERS

Two Gold-Standard Lasers. One Thoughtful Approach.

NIXX uses two industry-leading laser systems because no two tattoos - or bodies - respond the same way. Most tattoo removal studios rely on a single laser and treat every tattoo the same. At NIXX, we work with both Cynosure PicoSure and Lutronic Hollywood Spectra  (both Health Canada Approved), covering a broad range of wavelengths & pulse technologies, allowing us to treat different ink colours, depths, and skin types with precision rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.

Some tattoos respond better to one laser. Others benefit from a carefully timed combination over multiple sessions. Having both systems allows us to adapt your treatment as your tattoo fades — adjusting based on how your skin and ink actually respond, not on a fixed formula.

Our approach is practical, experience-driven, and focused on results — whether your goal is full removal or controlled fading for a cover-up.

Assessment & Test Patch (If Needed)

We assess your tattoo, skin, and fading goals, and when appropriate, perform a small test patch to understand how your skin and ink respond to treatment.

Personalized Treatment Plan

Based on your assessment, we create a customized, state-of-the-art treatment plan outlining the recommended approach, estimated sessions, timing, and cost — all clearly explained before you begin.

Treatment & Healing

While it may be tempting to treat more frequently, waiting longer between sessions actually improves results. By waiting at least 12-weeks:

  • Your body clears more ink between sessions (the immune system needs time to gradually flush out these particles through natural processes)
  • Each treatment becomes more effective
  • Skin has more time to fully heal
  • The risk of irritation or side effects is reduced

Often, waiting longer between sessions leads to faster overall fading, fewer total treatments and less cost!

Ongoing Support & Tracking

We document progress at each visit and adjust laser settings as needed to ensure safe, effective fading.

We’re here for you throughout the process, offering guidance, answering questions, and prioritizing your safety and overall experience at every stage.

  • What to Expect

Here’s what you can expect during your laser tattoo removal treatment:

Arrival and Preparation: Upon arrival, our technicians will clean the tattooed area and apply an ice pack to minimize discomfort during the session.

Laser Treatment: The PicoSure® and/or Hollywood Spectra lasers will be customized based on the details of your tattoo. During the treatment, you may feel a sensation similar to a rubber band snap as the ink particles are broken down.

Session Duration: The length of each session varies depending on the tattoo's size and complexity, ranging from a few minutes to an hour. Several sessions will be required for complete removal.

Post-Treatment Care: Following the treatment, the area may become red and swollen, resembling a mild sunburn. Our team will cover it with a bandage and provide you with an ice pack to soothe the area.

Pain Management: Most clients report minimal discomfort, but over-the-counter pain relievers can be taken if needed.

  • How to Prepare

Proper preparation is essential for successful laser tattoo removal. Follow these guidelines to ensure the best outcome:

Consultation: Begin with a consultation to assess your tattoo and discuss your goals, so we can develop a personalized treatment plan just for you.

Avoid Sun Exposure: Avoid direct sunlight on the tattooed area for at least six weeks before your treatment, as sunburned or tanned skin increases the risk of side effects.

Stay Hydrated: Drinking plenty of water before your session keeps your skin hydrated, which can help in the healing process.

Avoid Certain Products: Avoid using products containing retinoids or exfoliating acids on the tattooed area for at least a week before your treatment.

Shave the Area: If your tattoo is in a hairy area, please shave the hair before your appointment. Avoid waxing or plucking, as it may irritate the skin.

On the Day of Your Appointment: Please arrive with the area clean and free of makeup, creams, or oils, and remove any jewellery near the treatment site. If you have any cosmetic tattoos or permanent makeup in the area being treated, just let us know—we’re happy to review them with you.

  • Aftercare

Following these aftercare instructions will ensure optimal healing and prevent complications:

Following Your Treatment: Your NIXX Laser Tattoo Removal technician will clean and wrap the treated area for your trip home & will explain all aftercare instructions.

Keep the Area Clean and Dry: Gently cleanse the treated area twice a day with mild, unscented soap and warm water, then pat it dry with a clean towel. Avoid soaking the area in water.

Apply Ointment: Apply a thin layer of the prescribed ointment (Aquaphor) or an unscented moisturizer to keep the area moisturized and support the healing process.  Avoid products not recommended by our technicians.

Avoid Sun Exposure: Shield the treated area from direct sunlight. If needed, apply a high-SPF sunscreen to avoid pigmentation problems. We recommend avoiding UV exposure to the area for 6 weeks after treatment, and between sessions.

Reduce Inflammation: If possible, elevate the treatment area during the first 24 hours to reduce inflammation.

Apply a cold compress as needed for the first 2 to 3 days.

Manage Discomfort: Apply a cold compress to alleviate swelling and discomfort. Blistering & crusting may occur and are not uncommon. Avoid rubbing, picking or scratching the area to prevent scarring.

Monitor Healing: Keep an eye out for any unusual redness, swelling, or discharge, and contact us immediately if you notice any concerning symptoms.
